Cooking Pasta

There are many different ways of cooking pasta, and each different way of cooking and presenting pasta is a different culinary experience all the time. There is however a traditional way of cooking pasta that still remains the most effective way of cooking and enjoying pasta.

Cooking pasta may look like a simple task, but is actually quite an ardent task to accomplish perfectly. Achieving the al dente state for pasta may take some time to master, and various times for cooking are used depending on the type of pasta.

The basic way of cooking pasta involves filling a large pot, usually a stock pot, with water and bringing it to a boil. Don’t be afraid to use a lot of water as it will prevent the pasta from sticking to the pot. Before putting in the pasta, add some salt. Salt will increase the flavor of the pasta and won’t really add to the sodium level of whatever you are cooking. Slowly add the pasta into the boiling water. You will occasionally notice that the water might stop boiling once the pasta is added. This is fine and the water will surely continue boiling after a few seconds. Keep stirring the pasta in the stock pot to prevent sticking and even out the cooking. Your pasta should be good and ready within 7-12 minutes.
