Pasta Ingredients

There are only a couple of ingredients that are actually used in order to make your own pasta at home. The basic ingredients include flour, water, eggs and occasionally some salt. In some cases, more specifically with the case of dried pasta, there are no eggs used at all in order for the pasta to be able to survive for a longer time before cooking.

In cooking and preparing pasta recipes, there are a couple of ingredients that are commonly used. Probably the most common ingredient used in pasta are different types of cheese. Out of all the different types of cheese, the most often used type is parmesan cheese. Parmesal cheese is actually quite common in a lot of Italian dishes. Mozzarella is one other cheese that can be commonly tasted in many different pasta dishes. Another type of cheese that is commonly used is feta cheese. Although feta is more commonly used in other dishes, a lot of fusion dishes now use feta for their pasta dishes.

Tomatoes are also a common ingredient in many different pasta dishes. Roman tomatoes and cherry tomatoes are both quite commonly used for making a lot of pasta dishes, either as part of the sauce in stewed variations or as diced toppings that can add to the texture of the dish.
