Pasta when translated in Italian simply means “dough”. The word has transcended into a different meaning in other areas of the world, as a favorite among dinner tables everywhere. This Italian variant of noodles are traditionally made using water, flour, and eggs. Pasta is now a favorite among people in all parts of the world, cooked in a variety of ways and with many different ingredients.
Best served for supper or dinner, there are over 300 different pasta shapes available today. There is the traditional spaghetti, which are long cylindrical pasta that’s quite solid. Another common type of pasta is macaroni or maccheroni, which is pasta shaped into hollow cylinder tubes. Lasagna, which are sheets of pasta, are also quite common and a favorite among kids. There are two different types of pasta, categorized as either dried or fresh. Dried pasta is any type of pasta made without using any eggs. This makes the pasta survive up to two years in the proper temperature and condition. Fresh pasta on the other hand will only keep for a number of days when refrigerated.
The most common ways of cooking pasta for supper, dinner, or any other meal include pasta with tomato sauce, pesto pasta, and with ground meats and cheese.
